ANNABEL ROSE

Born in the North but my soul belongs to Cornwall. I trained in Leeds and now paint en plein air and from sketches of the Cornish land and seas and Somerset countryside. My work is often semi-abstract evoking a feeling or sense of a landscape or seascape and not a literal depiction, so there might be forms or colours that are familiar. My work is built from memories as well as sketches. They are created with loose and quick marks, I have fun using sticks, rags, brushes etc, which helps create work that's multi-layered with details hidden amongst them. I work in the studio and en plein air. 

I was a professional graphic designer for over twenty years - most recently the Creative Lead for Pukka teas. Now unleashed from the discipline of design and free to express my own creativity I remain rooted in nature - it's power, beauty and colour.
